7 Daily Rituals You Need to Master Life in the Fast Lane with Kids

Finding a way to get things done, with kids, while running a business, and without losing your mind, takes serious skill. You need to be at the top of your game.

Even if you make it through most days without leaving a backpack behind or forgetting to pack a lunch, it’s never easy to push beyond incident-free, let alone smooth perfection.

There are so many people that you need to take care of, before you can even start thinking of yourself. Right? Wrong. 

With nearly 54% of dual-income families saying that mother does it all, this isn’t something women can ignore. Instead, it’s a new plan of attack that needs to be embraced. It starts with taking care of you.

What I’ve done with this post is to create a list of 7 daily rituals that you need in order to master life in the fast lane. This doesn’t mean you’ll be able to do it all, with ease, straightaway. What it does mean, however, is that these daily rituals will put you on the right path.

1. Wake-up Early

There is something magical about a quiet house, clear mind, and time that is all yours. I get more done from 5am to 6:30am than I do in an entire afternoon on any given day.

The hardest part of an early wakeup is getting out of bed. “Mind over Mattress” – Robin Sharma. It’s all about beating that nagging inner voice repeatedly telling you five more minutes of sleep is okay.

There is something special that comes with beating our inner voice. If your mind wins … things start on a high note and usually only get better.

The bottom line is being productive right out of the gate gives you momentum at the very start of your day. Early success = powerful mojo.

2. Workout

I know what you’re saying. I have no time to workout! Then, this 7-Minute Workout is for you. It changed my life. It’s fast. It’s free. And, you can do it anywhere (no gym required). Come on now.

A quick high-intensity workout is about improving your state of mind through the many benefits of exercise. Regular exercise boost brain function, reducing stress, improving memory, and more.

Good sweat = great energy ... and better fitting clothes.

What I love best about Spinach is it’s versatility. It’s mild tasting; I love it cold or hot, cooked or uncooked, in a smoothie. Easy-peasy. One bowl of spinach is a great way to get your green fix. Healthy body = healthy mind.

5. Be Thankful

Whether you are where you want to be or still on your way, take a few minutes out of each day to be thankful for what you’ve got.

Things can get crazy. Hell, it’s crazy most of time. I know this firsthand as a mother of two boys under the age of 7 and owner of a toy manufacturing business. I work harder now than I ever did during my 12-year career on Wall Street.

You better believe that I look in the mirror and question things from time to time, the paths I took, the reasons why, the what ifs? I stop, take a breath. And I‘m thankful, for … the roof over my head, the health of my children, the strength of my husband, the sun when it shines, the rain when it calms … each day, I find time to be thankful, come back down to earth, and I’m a better person for it. Positive mindset = positive outlook.

6. Clean Kitchen

Go to bed with a clean kitchen, wakeup in a good mood. And that's the way I roll. For most families, the kitchen is the most important room in the house. It’s the epicenter.

Clean is key. The dishwasher is emptied, counters are crumble-less, oven is wiped, floor is swept, kids’ lunchboxes are washed and ready to go.

Waking up to a clean kitchen feels good. Feeling good = piece of mind. 

7. Play

Play is a necessary part of being human. Play opens your mind and gets the juices flowing. Play sets you free. 

With 42% of working parents today saying they are not good enough parents during the week, it’s about time we find time to connect with our kids. They need us; we need them. Carve out the time, even if it's only for 12 minutes per day. Put down the mobile, forget about email, and bond with your kids. They grow up fast.

Bonding = happy family.

I own a children's toy company.

I came up with our first product out of the need for good old-school active-play toys that would last beyond one-time use.
